ALPHA COURSE

NEW COURSE - "ON THE THIRD DAY"

"On the Third Day" has been put together by Bishop John Pritchard, former Bishop of Jarrow and more recently Bishop of Oxford.  Contributors include former Bishop of Durham, Tom Wright and Bishop Libby Lane, the first woman to be consecrated a bishop in the Church of England.

The course starts on Tuesday, 9th April at 7pm in the Vestry Meeting Room at All Saints’ Church, Fulwell Road, Sunderland and runs each Tuesday for 5 weeks .

The course begins with a few minutes of some recorded reflections and thoughts on the Resurrection by several Christian thinkers and writers noted for their ability to explain things clearly and deeply personally. These include Tom Wright, former Bishop of Durham and scholar, well-known for his books on the New Testament “For Everyone”, and Bishop Libby Lane, the Church of England’s first woman bishop.  There are also contributions from Professor Paul Vallely, a Roman Catholic lecturer and writer and the Reverend Ruth Gee, a former President of the Methodist Conference and Chair of Darlington District.   We then have forty five minutes or so to share our own thoughts and experiences, find encouragement and grow in faith.

“On the Third Day” is portable - that is, it is on CD, and can also be used in people’s homes.  If for whatever reason people find it difficult to get out, Dick (the Vicar) would be very happy to come to people’s homes with “On the Third Day".

If there is a preference for a day-time meeting, please let Dick know via the Parish Office (0191 5160135) or email monkwearmouth@btconnect.com and we can see what might be arranged.
