Saint Peter's Church Tour Guides - would you like to volunteer?
St. Peter’s Church is open to visitors most days except, at the moment, Saturdays due to a shortage of guides. St. Peter’s guides are all volunteers and at present are rather lacking in numbers. Ideally we would like to open regularly on Saturdays as well, which is usually considered to be a particularly good day for visitors. Also, we would like to have 2 guides on duty at all times, because frequently, new visitors arrive as we are still showing earlier visitors around.
International visitors from more than 30 countries have visited the Church this year and guided tours are offered, which are free, although most visitors do make voluntary donations to the Church funds.
If you would like to become a guide at St. Peter’s please contact Derrick Matthew on 0191 5498836. Initially, you will receive training by being partnered with a more experienced guide. Being a guide can be a most enjoyable experience, and you will certainly meet a lot of interesting people.
